CLA, or Conjugated Linoleic Acid, is an Omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acid. This omega compound is naturally found in many animal products but is most known as a compound in safflower oil. Safflower is a tall plant with spiked leaves and yellow or orange flowers. Originally. the flowers were used as a dye for clothing in ancient Egypt. Today, safflower oil is highly touted for its abundance of omega nutrients.
CLA was first identified in 1987 by researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, then further examined by Michael Pariza, PHD. He noted many special things about this Omega-6 compound and its potential.
