What is Goldenseal?
Goldenseal (Hydrastis canadensis), also known as orangeroot, is a woodland plant, part of the Buttercup family. Native to North America, this ancient herb’s roots contain bitter alkaloid compounds, derived from thick, heavily knotted, yellow rhizomes. These rhizomes are notorious for their natural supply of alkaloids, hydrastine and berberine, as well as traces of essential oils and resin.
